Briefly Describe Your Fraternity : Sammy was founded in 1909 at the City College of New York by the eight founding fathers. Nationally and locally recognized as one of the strongest fraternities, Sigma Alpha Mu was established on the UT campus in 1921. It has consistently surpassed the all-men's GPA and is always one of the top 3 fraternities in terms of scholarship. Our fraternity tries to instill in our brothers a spirit of fraternity, of mutual moral aid and support, and a love for and loyalty to alma mater. Then men of Sigma Alpha Mu are dedicated to the principles of manhood, democracy, and humanity.
The purpose of our fraternity is to guide each undergraduate member toward a more meaningful life, to prepare members for responsible fraternity and community involvement, and to create social and service opportunities for its alumni.
